One Year.

On Sunday, husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary. OH what an amazing year it has been with this man. We decided to just have a chill weekend, spending every moment together, give each other gifts and eat lots of delicious food. Mission accomplished.

Friday night was a work party for the company where David works. We got to dress up, have yummy drinks and spend the night at the hotel. It was wonderful to wake up in that king size bed and walk to breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant. That afternoon, we parted ways to buy each other presents. We both had struggles, I thought I did a good job buying David a gift card for a massage and 2 nerf guns (plus a nerf battle immediately upon opening the gift) but David absolutely won the gift-giving prize by ordering these beauties…

Husband sure has good taste.

We had dinner at Olive Garden, then headed home, stuffed and happy for some cuddling and Netflix binge watching.

Sunday, our actual anniversary – In honor of our very first date, we ate at Chili’s (classy). We ate so much junk food that I eventually asked husband to buy some oranges so I could have healthiness in my body. Good grief. We window shopped at Target (Dave found a vacuum he’s obsessed with) and headed home with some twinkle lights and hershey’s kisses. A friend of ours let us borrow his ENTIRE collection of Harry Potter movies, so David and I spent the rest of Sunday, plus almost all of Monday, binge watching Harry Potter, snacking constantly and telling each other how much we love one another in true {barely still} newlywed fashion. It was great :)

Happy Anniversary, Dave.
Thanks for being my best friend.

the best.

I realized that ya’ll might not know something – I GOT MARRIED! Remember that wonderful boyfriend I told you about here and here? Well, he’s allllll mine now. Forever. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves…it all starts with a proposal story…

April 20th, 2013 – Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.
Our one-year anniversary of dating. {we’re THAT couple}

Well, technically the 19th was the actual anniversary. But that day was a cold and rainy Friday, we went to David’s basketball game {they lost}, shopped at Wal-Mart and then went back to his place to watch the news. So it doesn’t count.

{I did TOTALLY think he was going to propose on our 1 year anniversary, but I was expecting it Friday and it obviously didn’t happen. Not to mention he told me that he went to get the ring he had picked out for me and it had SOLD! So I stopped expecting anything}

Saturday was beach day! We had a fantastic drive, eating grapes and making up alternative lyrics to songs on the radio. When we finally got to our beach destination it was cold and windy. I said, “Why don’t we just go for a walk on the beach. We don’t have to set up our chairs and everything.”
No. David was determined. We were setting up.
Me:”Ok, well, wait for me, I have to go to the bathroom!”
David: “I’ll go ahead and set up for us.”
Me: “No no no! we have to see the ocean for the first time together!” {A dune was blocking our view}
Poor man! Here he was trying to surprise me and I was making it very difficult.
We walked to our beach spot together. We set our towels down and I ran back to use the bathroom. David watched me walk away and I looked back and smiled, thinking, “Aw, we’re having a moment!” Haha! He was just waiting for me to turn the corner so he could put his plan into action!
When I walked back, I saw David sitting on the blanket he had laid out. When I sat next to him he greeted me with the most wonderful, sweetest kiss. My thought, “Well, that was pretty intense for a “you just got back from the bathroom” kiss! But I’ll take it!” And we sat looking at the water for maaaaaybe 15 seconds when David said, “Hey, look over there! What’s that?” It was a little treasure chest peeking out from the sand. “Why don’t you go dig it up!” I danced over {butterflies!} and pulled it out of the sand. Inside was an old looking note that said, “Turn Around.”
I did.
LAnd there was my handsome, amazing and wonderful Love down on one knee looking up at me with an expression that I never will forget.
“Elisa Abele, I love you very much. Will you marry me?”

And of course I said “YES!”

I really never understood those girls that cried when they got engaged. Seriously girls, get it together.

But I was a ball. of. tears.
My knees were weak and I fell into the arms of my {now} husband.

It was amazing.

You can read more about “us” HERE. I tried something new with a new blog title, but Orange and Gray will always have my heart. SO I’m back :)
